If you have a MHCP from your GP you are eligible for the following rebates from Medicare.  Please note these are processed at the same time as payment so you are only out of pocket the difference (gap):

Bulk Billing occurs when a psychologist receives a referral from a doctor (Mental Health Care Plan) and the psychologist decides to reduce their rates to the same amount rebated by Medicare. This means that there will be no gap payment, nor additional costs. Bulk billing is only made available to those who are currently unemployed or have a pension card, and is dependent on our clinician’s current availability.

If bulk billing is not offered and you are experiencing hardship, our psychologists may choose to offer a suitably reduced rate of service at a specific time, depending on your individual circumstances.

Your doctor (GP) determines the number of sessions in the letter sent to the psychologist. The maximum limit is 6 visits in the first referral, and an additional 4 visits after one mental health review. Once all 10 sessions are completed in the same calendar year – your psychologist can write to your GP and recommend a re-referral for the new additional 10 sessions available under Better Access.  This means you can possibly access 20 sessions in a calendar year, at the GP’s recommendation.

RAPHA Health are open 5 days a week with evening appointments available two nights a week.  Please refer to our website for exact times and note that each individual psychologist works on specific days, at different times and at our different locations.

Please note in the event that you need to cancel or postpone an appointment, notification is required at least 24 hours in advance.  Where an appointment is cancelled less than 24 hours in advance, the client will be charged a cancellation fee of $50.00.
